The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson middle school sites: John Muir Middle School, Stephen White Middle School, and Carnegie Middle School visited the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
For this event members received a campus tour from Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson Alum Brian Sierra. During the campus tour members visited various places including the Janss steps, where Martin Luther King once spoke, the Murphy Sculpture Garden an outdoor museum and the inverted fountain. After the campus tour members got to eat on campus and make a stop to the bookstore.
The day ended with the members participating in a UCLA men's basketball game against Washington State University. Tickets for this event were provided through the UCLA Athletics Community Relations. Members greatly enjoyed attending the game and their overall experience at UCLA. Current BGCC member Caidden stated "I really liked this field trip, it was lots of fun!"
Club members from Muir Middle School recently went on a field trip to San Diego State University (SDSU). A campus tour was led by BGCC Alum and previous Youth of the Year, Rajane Devlugt.
During the tour, the Club members participated in a scavenger hunt and took pictures of various activities on campus. At the end of the tour, Rajane shared about her Club experience and how helpful it was when it was time for her to apply to college. The Club members enjoyed the college field trip and having the opportunity to explore the campus.
