Kim Richards, who has served as the CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson (BGCC) for 19 years, was awarded CEO of the Year by the Los Angeles Basin Area Council of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).
The LA Basin Area Council region consists of seventeen local Boys & Girls Clubs. This year’s nominees were evaluated based on their exhibited leadership and service to the community, including contributions to their Club, service to the Boys & Girls Club Movement (both regional and national), honors awarded by the Movement and other organizations, and personal story highlighting their commitment to youth development.
Since joining the BGCC in 2005, Kim has increased the number of members served from 100 to 5,000 daily and boosted revenue by 1,250%. Under her leadership, BGCC has garnered numerous BGCA national awards including Marketing and Communications (MAC), Gateway to Impact, and Year of the Teen.
She is also active in The Professional Association and the National Board of BGCA. Her tireless dedication to afterschool programs has led her to serve on various task forces and committees for the California Department of Education, Los Angeles County Office of Education, Los Angeles Unified School District, California State Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, California Afterschool Advocacy Alliance, and Expand LA.
Kim’s unwavering dedication to providing equitable learning opportunities for underserved youth extends well beyond our service area, creating a profound impact across the nation.
The BGCC board of directors and staff extend their heartfelt congratulations to Kim for this exceptional and well-deserved honor.
